Let's see what happened the past couple of weeks. Rizman(who has the most interesting blog ever,http://www.tendarkones.blogspot.com) introduced me to the wonders of David Bowie and an ethopian jazz artist;Mulatu Astatke,Speaking of which,I realised Jazz is actually the most underestimated music genre.

Been playing alot of video games lately,Hung out with Al yesterday,He is a big transformers freak btw,as in really really big,Hell I wouldn't spend $99.90 on a toy.I bought Tool's New Album; 10,000 days. Nicest album design ever, the album has fucking stereoscopic lenses for fuck's sake,My favourite song off that album is 'Roseta Stoned',My cousin from UK is back in singapore again,Ate chilli crab and bought Revolver today just because Tool's on the frontpage,I've got jamming tomorrow at The Hudsucker Proxy,I'm still a big fan of Star Wars,I still do not like Emo music and I crave for Sushi. I went to siglap with Siva to meet Algernon, had a pretty delightful dinner before going to Macs to meet Rory. We had a really really good talk that left me thinking throughout the night, even now.. as I'm typing, I'm thinking.

Have you ever thought about the Universe,Galaxy,Space,Evolution,The World in general..? We were talking about shit like that and it's really kind of creepy to actually really think about it. A theory I read somewhere and kind of support is that the galaxy is made up of time. Maybe, our future is pre-destined and it is waiting for us, we are just travelling through the galaxy to get there. The galaxy could possibly be sort-of an instrument of delivery to the future/past. For some reason, I can actually really picture the galaxy being time itself. Maybe right now, at this very moment, the dinosaurs are still living but we've gone past that stage.. BUT we can possibly go back to that period of time by unlocking the mystery and secrets of the galaxy. Hell, we could go back to that period of time wearing jeans and nike shoes. I might sound ridiculous but hey, it's just a theory that some people do believe in. And for some reason, it sort of makes sense to me.

The next topic we touched on was about the future. What you see on Television may not happen, the whole sky city with flying cars and robots walking around. I don't really think the future would be that way. As Siva said, with the current global warming effect.. The water level could rise in the future and flood the entire earth, and FISHES, yes fishes, would evolve into some kind of advanced and intelligent creature, maybe mermaids/mermen? Aquatic Life could be the next stage of evolution just like Dinosaurs and Mankind. Siva told me he read somewhere that we actually evolved from fishes. Sounds weird indeed eh? and from fishes, we adapted to changes and became land-fishes(alligators probably) and a gazillion years later, we could have possibly resembled a mammal-like amphibian, and then another gazillion years later, evolve into a monkey and you know the rest. Now that we are humans, what is our next step of evolution? unfortunately, we won't live to find that out.

Algernon proved a point about that. Cockroaches existed way before the dinosaurs did, a cockroach was a foot-long back then and it is probably one of the only few living things to experience the 3 stages of evolutions that took place on earth, Dinosaurs, to Whatever, to Humans. If you notice, pesticides are made to kill cockroaches, but the cockroaches these days are getting used to pesticides..adapting and evolving slowly, that could possibly be the reason why scientists constantly change the chemical content in the pesticides.

Another topic we talked about was life after death. Do you remember anything before you were born? Maybe that could be what would happen to you when you die. Everything is just shut out entirely. You wouldn't have to worry about being bored or anything because you can't think. You don't exist. You aren't there. It's just a theory, another theory is that you will move onto a different paralleled universe, a different dimension in general(could possibly be heaven or hell).

And I also do believe alien lifeforms exist. I don't think of the word Alien as paley skin, big black eyes and UFOS. Aliens, to me, mean life-forms that exists outside Earth.. And I think there are many many aliens that exist, possibly watching and observing us. Speaking of that, I was watching National Geographic afew days ago and a scientist was talking about how stars usually drop from the sky at night. What happens to them? The scientist in that program came up with a theory that the stars would usually drop into the sea and sink right underneath where everything is pitch-black and dark. These stars could contain alien lifeforms and could possibly break out from these stars and form a civilization under the sea, live in the underground water caverns and observe us from there. If the stars doesn't reach the sea however, it will die out together with a alien life-form in the star and just disappear. It could be possible because nobody has ever gone down that deep into the sea, it's almost impossible to explore the very depths of it actually, the most a researcher/explorer has gone is the pitch-black stages but there could be way more stuff underneath. Think about it, more and more weird mutated sea creatures are being found everyday. Could that possibly be the work of these alien life-forms? or something to do with evolution?

I can go on for this for hours. But I've posted enough for today. Well, people, if you are interested in this entry I just posted up, you certainly have to watch '2001: A Space Odyssey', One of the greatest films ever. The ending is really creepy and scary.. The Protagonist gets lost in space and evolves into some kind of weird deity. It might sound abit odd to you but the movie is really realistic.. Stanley Kubrick is a genius, just like David Lynch and Darren Aronofsky. (P.S I can't wait for 'Lone Wolf & Club' and 'Inland Empire')

Hello readers, sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Quite a frustrating session although we have finalised our second song, sounds pretty cool, reminiscent of Isis, whahahaha! nott shyy ehh? Speaking of The Panopticon, we have an ambient track that will be used as the intro song for our EP, so do check it out at http://www.myspace.com/thepanopticon. I've also gotten used to my double pedals. I managed to create a constant *drrrr* sound on my double pedals without using much strength today, which was very surprising. That certainly made my day. Whaha.

Anyway, I will be filming a 15 minute independent film late this month together with two good buddies of mine, Fezz and Siva. The script has already been written. The film revolves around a man who develops some kind of paranoia and isn't able to see anyone at all, thus making him believe the world has ended. Do check it out once we are done. If it receives good response, we might enter it in a short film competition. And anyone interested in filling in for cameo appearances, feel free to email me at finddaryl_@hotmail.com.

I am Ahab.

I finally bought my double pedals last night! It's the DW 5000 series and it's smooth as hell. I practised for an hour today till my legs started aching like a bitch. It's kind of weird though, that I can only double pedal properly without my shoes on in the studio, but whereas at home, I need my shoes on to formulate a constant *drrr* sound. Anyway, I managed to come up with afew catchy beats using the double pedals and I'm quite happy about that, hopefully I can make use and showcase them, shall practise again tomorrow. I'll try to nail the Heel-To-Toe technique this time.

I've gotten quite sick of the whole Hardcore and Metal scene lately. The Metal and Hardcore scene in Singapore is so stagnant, all the new bands that are coming out these days sound the same.. and it's really kind of sad. I guess I'm drifting away from that whole Metalcore thing and favoring a new style of music, that whole Progressive Sludge sound. Well in our opinions, Noise could be considered part of the music genre. I was just looking through the dictionary to find out the meaning/definition of the word, Music, and it read "An aesthetically pleasing sound". Any sound that pleases you should be called music in my opinion. Now, ever heard of the saying "Her voice is like music to my ears"?. You always read that shit in books, and most of the time, HER VOICE always refers to her talking, yes, talking, not Singing. Well, If I was a typical radio-friendly mainstream asshole, then I would believe that talking isn't music, only something with melody is a music.

And I think that's bullshit. To me, music is anything that is pleasing to YOUR OWN ears. It could be the sound of rain, the electrical fan, aircon, cats meowing. That is my definition of music, anything that is pleasing to your own ears. and I consider Noise to be part of music, I consider anything that makes a particuluar sound to be music. Obviously, not all us like some noises, it's all up to your own personal preferences.

Onto my next topic, I believe people who do not like Metal or Hardcore music or anything heavy in general should shut their pieholes instead of insulting the kind of music they cannot appreciate. I listen to everything mind you, that includes Jazz and Electronica too, in case you think I'm a narrow-minded bastard.

There are alot of talented bands out there that don't receive enough recognition because of the invasion of these radio-obsessed dickwads. Such bands are Isis,Cult Of Luna,Explosions In The Sky,Sigur Ros,Godspeed! You Black Emperor to name afew, most of the bands listed above play instrumental songs that sound very very soothing, they are sometimes classified under Post-Rock or Post-Metal, The post-rock approach to music, is emphasised on instrumental work and sound textures, either very minimal vocals can be heard or they sound extremely unique, and people think they are shit. Just because they sound boring to them?

These bands speak louder than words with their music. They are music. True Musicians I would say. Listening to them makes you paint pictures of scenarios in your head, it gets you thinking. Listen to 'Weight' by Isis,'Glittering Blackness' by Explosions In The Sky, 'Njosjavelin by Sigur Ros', or 'Leave Me Here' by Cult Of Luna. Don't tell me you can't think of anything, and If you don't, you don't have the ability to imagine. But then again, like I said earlier, It's up to your own personal opinion, and at least...at the very least, if you don't like the kind of music that different bands play, bands you have never heard before in your life, please don't make unecessary comments.

To sum it all up, "Do not insult what you do not understand."

That includes the paranormal as well, Lol.

WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Emokid with a vengeance!

Met Hakim at siglap last night, Hakim's been my best buddy for 8 years mann. We haven't seen each other for so long and it was really nice to see him last night. We went to KFC, I ordered a Lemonade and what did they give me? Ice Lemon Tea with more sugar and a lemon. Wtf? Then we went to Rory's place and played "backyard" wrestling with Rory providing commentary and sound effects(crowd cheering/jeering). I went to Hakim's place after that and played some Star Wars game, I swear it's impossible to kill those fucking droids.

Rory,Damian and I wrote a new song too, It sounds pretty kickass but can be worked on. In later games, Birdo has become a female, and was also Yoshi's girlfriend in many of the games. Thus, proving that Birdo is definitely female.

Most people think that Birdo is a transvestite, but others just think that he/she is a very, very, very strange creature.

Onwward to Manhood!

I just read 'Kite Runner' by Khaled Hosseini. It's a really touching book about the life of Amir, who leaves his country, Afghanistan to America after Russian Forces invade his home country. Many political events take place in his life as he strives to be independent and responsible, But the book, basically is an intimate account of family, friendship, betrayal and salvation. One of the best books I've ever read in my entire life. Get it if you can!

This book actually got me thinking, about being responsible, about being a man. It's quite scary in a way, I'm already 15 years old, and I honestly don't think I can look after myself on my own. But I know one day I have to, I have to face my fears, I have to learn to be responsible. I'm quite frightened at the thought of going out to the real world on my own in the future. Yup, and I ain't shy to admit it. Amir kind of reminds me of me in the book, when he was young, he was a coward, a timid and nervous individual, although he does change and become responsible in the end, and hopefully I do too. Ah well.

In Heaven, Everything is fine.

The creepy disturbing song sung by the Lady in the radiator in 'Eraserhead'. I just watched 'Eraserhead' for the second time, I bought this DVD from Inokii about a week ago and I have to say, It has certainly been my favourite movie since. It is a really different film from anything you see in Hollywood and is directed by the legendary David Lynch, who is well recognised for his weird experimental films. This film has a very dark surreal feel and has all elements of a nightmare in it(the kind of dark nightmares that are so random-they are disturbing. The film is even in black-and-white to give it a more dark approach, lol). It's either you really really love this movie, or really really freaking hate it. It depends on what kind of movies you like. The key to watching this film is to not watch it thinking of what conspires-literally but rather metaphorically.

The movie is basically about a lonely man Henry Spencer, living in an industrial wasteland area. The second thing we know about him other than him being lonely is that he sins quite alot(no explanation given). The worms in the movie represent sin, and the worms coming out from his mouth is a metaphor for Henry being cleared of all his sins, and the planet and the Man inside the planet represents Heaven and God. Anyway, Henry's girlfriend, Mary X, invites him over to her place for dinner one fine day and He meets her strange family(especially her quiet grandmother, possibly dead). Mary's mother confronts Henry privately about him having premarital sex with her daughter and resulting in an abnormally short pregnancy for Mary. Mary's mother tells him that Mary gave birth to an abnormal reptillian like baby and that Henry is the cause of this misery and has to marry her if not, he'd be in deep trouble.

The baby is awfully disgusting looking and cries at night when Mary and Henry go to bed. In the end, Mary loses her cool and leaves Henry to look after it himself. Henry thinks about suicide(The freaky lady in the radiator represents suicide, she sings him the iconic "In heaven, everything is fine" song). A series of weird events follow, especially the one scene where Henry's head detaches itself from his neck and drops from the sky, a little boy crossing the road sees the head and exitedly delivers it to a pencil factory where the pencil machine operator uses Henry's brain to make erasers..thus the title 'Eraserhead', I guess this scene is about him erasing his problems away. In the end, Henry kills his baby(killing himself at the same time) and hugs the lady in the radiator, embracing death.

Very painful to watch at first, but it is incredible once it's over. David Lynch rules. I'd rate this film 8/10. Might be a little slow for people who love xXx kind of films.

Well, that's all for now I guess. But not before I treat you guys with HORSE The Band's Lord Gold Throneroom video. Enjoyy!!!

ITSA MEEE! Hope everyone is doing fine and not feeling too emo today, feeling emo is bad, although today would be a good day to feel emo since it's raining heavilly(restate fact about self: I hate it when it rains). The sky is very dark right now and the only thing that is carrying a happy atmosphere is the music coming from my speakers..

HORSE The Band!!! The 'The Mechanical Hand' album!
Just in case you didn't know, HORSE The Band is a really talented nintendo-core band with a party'ish feel. Being probably the first band to ever fuse Hardcore music complete with breakdowns together with Nintendo game theme music, they will bring a new wave of creativity to the hardcore scene..Catchiness meets Technicality in this album. Buy it now! Yesyes, I am carrying their balls and endorsing them.

Speaking of Nintendo-core, The Nintendo 64 console has always been my favourite game player. I grew up playing Nintendo64 games like Mario 64 which is to me, hands down, THE GREATEST GAME EVER. It is very imaginative and full of colorful and fun levels. It kicks all of the Grand Theft Auto series' asses in my dearest opinion. The game indeed brings back alot of childhood memories. Actually, You know what? It's time to find that freaking machine. Buhbye peeps.

HORSE The Band's MySpace Profile

Friendster Horoscope

Today's forecast:
Maturity beckons you today when you feel an urge to take on more responsibility.

Pfft.

Dreaming In Dog Years

Today was a pretty alright day despite the heavy rain(I hate it when it rains). School was quite fun, I had a good chat with Mr.Thompson about what this shithole of a world is coming to. He told me he was watching television and flipping through the channels when he came across a program on CNN afew days back, the program was about what would most likely happen in the near future. They predicted a world war in 2013. Not that I believe what every news reporter scum has to say on tv(because tv is evil), but it kind of makes sense in a way, what is already happening now in the world could be a stepping stone to a probable world war afew years down the road from now. And I was thinking, "2013..Hmmm.. Hey, Wouldn't I be 18/19 years old then? Wouldn't I be enlisted in the army, Would I have to go to war?". Got me thinking, I sure as hell wouldn't ever want to go to war.

On a brighter note, Damian Steven from Little Girl Terrorist has joined our band, Ari Handel, as the second vocalist. Hopefully all goes well. In case you were wondering what we play, It's sort of a hybrid between Death Metal and Hardcore. GARANG AH? =P

I will be writing more shit soon, and friends, do give The Red Chord a listen.
